Inspired by the call to prayer of a monastery bell, each day we send a Daily Bell email as our 'virtual' call to prayer for the City of Nottingham.
Back in the 1980’s the Notts Prayer Network team were led to ‘divide the land into 7 parts, and to pray for each part’. God revealed the divisions of the land, and since then, there have been watchmen / sentinels who watch over these 7 parts of our city, and organise prayer around them.
Click this link to register for the Daily Bell to be sent to you too. Why not give it a try for a time, and if you find it unhelpful, you can simply unsubscribe. Even if we don’t get the chance to offer a big prayer each day, we find it helps us to stay informed and to watch over the city. Urban Abbey has picked up the baton to organise prayer around these 7 pillars too.
Whilst watching for causes of concern, sentinels are also on the lookout for the signs of God’s new creation.
“The job of a sentinel is to scan the horizon. To look. To discern. To see what is coming. To interpret. To guide. To announce. To warn.”
